Privacy Policy
Draft. This policy is being reviewed by a lawyer and may change before the Pathways app opens. It is in English for now; translations are coming.
The short version
- We only collect your email if you join the waitlist. We never sell or share it.
- No ads. No tracking or advertising cookies.
- This website never uses your microphone and never records you.
- We don't ask about your immigration status or your case, and we ask you not to send it to us.
- You can ask us to delete your email at any time: info@pathwaysusa.org.
Who we are
Pathways USA ("Pathways," "we") makes free practice for the U.S. citizenship interview. We are not part of USCIS or any government agency, and we do not give legal advice. You can reach us at info@pathwaysusa.org.
What this policy covers
This policy covers our website, pathwaysusa.org, and its waitlist. The Pathways app is not open yet. Before it opens, we will update this policy to cover the app, and the app will show you its privacy notice when you sign up. Our AI Policy explains how the app will use AI.
What we collect
- If you join the waitlist: your email address, the language you were using on our site, and the date you signed up. That is all. We don't ask for your name, address, phone number, immigration status or case details.
- Your language choice: saved only in your own browser so the site remembers it next time. It is not sent to us.
- Technical information: our web host, Cloudflare, processes standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the website and protect it from attacks. We don't use it to identify you, and the waitlist does not store your IP address.
Audio on this website
The "hear it" buttons use your browser's built-in voice to read English practice sentences out loud. This website does not use your microphone and does not record anything. Some browsers make the voice online; if yours does, the practice sentence (never anything about you) may be sent to your browser's maker, such as Google or Apple, to create the sound.
How we use your email
Only to tell you when the Pathways app is ready, and to send a small number of updates about the launch. Every email will include a way to unsubscribe. We will never use your email for anything unrelated to Pathways.
Who can see it
Only the Pathways team. The waitlist is stored in our Cloudflare account, and Cloudflare stores it for us as our service provider. When we send you email, it goes through Google (Gmail), which we use to send messages. We never sell, rent or trade your information, and we never share it with advertisers.
Requests from the government or police
We collect as little as possible, so there is very little we could share. We will only give out information if the law requires it. We will review every request carefully and, unless the law forbids it, we will tell you before we share anything about you.
How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist email until you ask us to remove it, or until 12 months after the app opens, whichever comes first.
Your choices and rights
To be removed from the waitlist, click "unsubscribe" in any email from us, or write to info@pathwaysusa.org from the email address you signed up with. You can also ask us what we have about you or ask us to correct it. Depending on where you live, the law may give you these rights; we honor them for everyone.
Keeping it safe
Our website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Only the Pathways team can open the waitlist. No system is perfectly secure, which is one more reason we collect so little.
Children
Pathways is for adults preparing for naturalization. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has joined the waitlist, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If we make a big change, we will email the waitlist first.
